A multi-site platform to unite Ohio State's regional campus web sites.
Ohio State's regional campuses play a crucial role in the university, and for many students, a regional campus is their only experience with Ohio State. Each campus relied on its own staff or outside agencies to build and maintain their sites. With varying levels of expertise and resources, the sites lacked a common experience and feature set.
After updating the university brand guidelines, creating a unified experiencefor all campuses became more important than ever. Communications staff from each of the four main regional campuses (Lima, Mansfield, Marion, and Newark) and the Columbus campus worked together to build a central multi-site for the regional campuses. The site shares common templates, elements and core functions. This allows the resources available at the Columbus campus to develop and help maintain the core of the site, while each campus retains granular control over their content—even down to how each page is laid out.
The Newark campus site was the first to launch, with others to follow later in the year.
